Miss A's 14th Birthday

We'd just came back from our niece Miss A a.k.a. Miss Banana's 14th birthday celebration. It's at Pondok Piza, her parents' choice (according to Miss A). It's a simple family dinner and there's nothing much to hoo-ha about.

Miss A turned 14 this year. Her look can really disguise her age. As the chinese saying, she's like a heron standing among chickens if she were to take photos with her classmates, especially the boys. Hm.... she'd been complaining that her boy classmates as immature. Yup, she's a grown up now. Wait until you guys read her blog, if she allows.

As for the dinner, mother-in-law prefers KFC, rather than the 'stinking' cheesy roti as she put it.

The Pondok Piza was kind enough to serve us a 'ice-cream pastry' as the birthday cake for the birthday girl. Of course, a birthday party can't goes without the birthday song. We sang, and she cut the cake.

The 'cake' looks good but I was to full to even have a bite. The children have the share.

Miss A's birthday present will be given a later, as we did not have enough time to wrap the present. Happy Birthday Miss Banana, and my God bless you abundantly!

Balance Disorder

I'd suffered from balance disorder since Sunday. The whole world seems to spin once I lie down. Looking at the computer screen for around 5 minutes was enough to make me giddy and puke. My doctor suspected that it's related to my recent sinusitis, where the middle ear got inflammation.

My situation worsen this morning, to the extend that I can't stand upright for long, and unable to drive to work. On medication and MC today.

To tell u all the truth, I'm terrified with this experience. It's my first time and it's certainly uncomfortable. I felt sucks.

Dating Dengan Puan Senget

Tahniah!

Citernyer begini. Hari tu Josh blog pasal minum petang ngan Kak Lin, Kimie dan Ja-cha-cha kat Kedai Kopi tepi tasik Shah Alam tu. Orang lain sibuk baca isi entry, tapi Pn Senget nih terus tengok gambar makanan. "Waa.. sedapnyer pisang goreng tu...." terus dia mengidam nak makan. Dengan suka cita nyer kita bawak dia ke situ semalam selepas waktu kerja. Puan Nini diajak sekali. Kak Lin siap tolong suapkan Puan Senget lagi. Tengok muka Pn Senget yang 'I'm the happiest pregnant women in the world' tu.

Kak Lin menyibuk. Memandangkan Josh masih kurang sihat, Josh minum air kelapa je. Yang goreng-goreng semua x makan.

Naper Puan Senget diberikan nama 'Senget'? Ni jawapannyer (gurau je ye, jangan caya). Kalo amik gambar secara spontan, dia nampak ok (tegak) je.

Tapi bila dia tau kita nak amik gambar dia, kepala dia terus tak ok (senget). Gambar-gambar ni jadi bukti.

Tak sampai 5 saat, terus lentuk satu badan. Senget kan?

Kedai Kopi is a good place to have afternoon tea, or to catch up with each other after office hour. Though not serving the best pisang goreng (banana fritters) in town, it's certainly the best spot to have nice view of Shah Alam.

Join me next time? Anyone?

Yong Tau Fu Lunch

I'm still recovering from sinusitis. Craving for something soupy for lunch. Was actually decided to have Sup Ani Utara, but was detoured to this restaurant: Hometown Yong Tau Fu.

This restaurant is rather new in Seksyen 7 Shah Alam, offering varieties of stuffed food.

I was accompanied by Kak Lin.

And also Puan Lala and Ja-cha-cha.

This is my lunch. Two sui-kaos, two brinjals, two ladies finger and two bitter gourds.

A bit of comment:
1. The menu is rather unfriendly. The pics of the food printed on one page, and the price on the other. Why can't they print them at the same page??
2. The soup was too sweet. Lots of MSG maybe?
3. I love the sui kaos, and the ladies fingers. O, my favourite, the bitter gourds.
I think the setting is the same as the one found in Ampang as in Aley's blog. Nothing fancy. Oh ya, I was trying to look for the HALAL certificate, and it's pasted on the wall near the cashier. (Knowing my colleagues would look for this certificate)

Mission Failed

I'd finally gave in to medicine. My sinusitis got worsen yesterday. My sinus was badly congested, throat severely swollen, unbearable headache, and high fever.

Sigh..... mission failed. I can't live an antibiotic free life.

Now that I'm under medication, I'm recovering fast. Hari ni MC, besok kerja.

Lunch With Inah

Inah called this morning, telling that she's on her way to Shah Alam. We had lunch together after her meeting at a neighbouring institution. Inah chose Marrybrown. Kita dok kat swing-swing.

Hm... the rice for the nasi ayam MB seems to shrink quite a lot. I asked the adik, " naper nasi tu nampak kecik ye?"

The next thing u know, they gave us extra rice. Bagus kan?

It's nice to meet up with this bubbly Inah again. She's nervous (and probably sad) that she'll be furthering her study at Aussie land in a month's time. Don't worry Inah, you'll get over with it and become a person that all of us would be proud of. I'm confident.

By the way, I'm getting better. The sore-throat subsided slightly. But the sinus infection was still bad. I'm touched by my blog readers for their concern and encouragements (and advices too). I'm taking these for relieve.

I'm sure I can overcome this without antibiotics. Be strong Josh.

Sinusitis Again

It's been two treacherous days, and I'm still suffering from sinusitis. The pain was unbearable sometimes, to the extend of vomiting and nausea. For the first time after so many years, I'd decided not to seed medication, or antibiotics in particular. My immune system had been weaken by the antibiotics, i think. However, my tonsils were all swollen and red. Yellowish discharge flowing from the infected sinus down to my throat. It's the kind of pain that only sinusitis sufferer could understand.

Still, I carried on my daily life, and attended Sunday Service at church as usual. To distract myself from the pain, I turned to (Thanks Ms. Banana) photography. Here're some to share.
My living room.

My car.

My bird-nest fern.

The dandelion at my mother-in-law's place.

I'll sleep early, making sure I have all the rest I want. Hopefully I'll be ok by tomorrow, or at least getting better.

An Afternoon at UKM Bangi

As planned, Kak Lin, Ja-cha-cha and me went to UKM Bangi for lunch before meeting with my research collaborator and master student. We met up with Dr. Ain-ain at her office and headed to the Danau Golf Club for lunch. It's been a long time since our last visit to this place. I'd even done the food review for the restaurant.

However, things had changed. The restaurant don't serve western anymore (chef dah lari) and the asian food they offered were all very disapointing. These were what we'd ordered: Ja-cha-cha's nasi goreng. Kak Lin's kueh tiau goreng, Dr. Ain's and mine GuongFu style kueh tiau.

They were all sucks. The fried rice was tasteless and too hot, the kueh tiau goreng was very plain, and the guongfu style kueh tiau was.. erm.... YUCKS! The gravy was tasteless, and look like erm... HINGUS!

A thumb down for the lunch. I can't finish up my lunch.

Not only that the food were lousy, the service was slow. A thin and tasteless apple juice costed RM6. This lunch was disappointing. So guys, and gurls, BAN this place.

I had my discussion at MBT after that. I was hungry (the ladies too) after the discussion. So off we went to Puri Pujangga, a restaurant within the UKM Bangi campus, for high tea @ RM8.50 per person.

Thought not the best high tea, but the food were definitely satisfying. Ada siapa-siapa tau tak kuih yang tengah-tengah tu apa? Dibuat daripada tepung dan kelapa parut. I'd never seen nor tasted them before.

Again, it's time for me to hit the gym after that. Aiyoo... sudah montel.

Blogging From Pak Li

I'm gonna have a busy day today. So making full use of my breakfast would be a good idea. I brought along my iBook and blogged at Pak Li. I ordered mee goreng mamak and the 50cents white offee.

Lot's of paper work today. Am preparing for my traveling for the next two weeks. Will be visiting and evaluating students at Ipoh and Bintulu. And since i'm also the marketing coordinator, i got to deal with the marketing matters too. Documents on my table are piling up.

Will be going to UKM Bangi with Kak Lin and meet up with Dr. Ain-ain for lunch today. Dr. Ain-ain is eager to have gossip updates from us. A meeting with my research collaborator thereafter.

By the way, one of the burung kakak tua in the previous entry had started blogging recently. Kepada sesiapa yang minat nak tau siapakah burung kakak tua yang saya maksudkan tu, pergi lah burung kakak tua punya blog. You can find photos of both burung kakak tua. Teka mana burung A dan mana burung B.
