Jalan-jalan at Putrajaya

A friend of ours, and a former staff of my wife from China came over to Malaysia for a few days. This chinese lady got so excited about Malaysia that many things were new for her. She stayed with another friend of ours and dropped by on Sunday. We took her to Putrajaya.

She commented that Malaysia is so beautiful that she got jealous. She loves the greenery scene, with lots of plants and trees. We stopped by the food court near the mosque. She excitedly asking me to take her picture there and then when we passed by a bunch of school pupils having their lunch. I snapped. She explained.

"These children with white cloth on their head were so beautiful! I wanna show my friends in China!"

Hm.. I came to realize that China is very much a mono-racial country, especially the province where she's from.

We took a cruise ride, around the lake. The lobby to the jetty caught my attention. My finger got itchy, so I snapped.

Regardless of where there're from, women just can't resist shopping.

Oh ya, she even got so excited with a bunch of malay and indian crew. She sit right in the middle, surrounded by 6 or 7 crews, all dark skinned, and I took the photo. Apparently she'd never seen so many 'dark-skinned' people all at one time and wanted to snap a photo.

"They're all black and I'm the only white one, I'm so happy". The excited grin was clearly shown on her face.

Come to think of it, we Malaysian had never been so excited about our multi-racial society. But I'm glad I have friends of all races, they are my pride.

Blog Addiction

I did this test and found that I'm not that addictive to blogging. Pheewww...

Certainly, I put my family and my job (and the commitments that came along) as my priority. Otherwise, I might end up with low performance in my work place.

McD, Again

Kalo tak gi McD, memang berbulan-bulan x pergi. Tapi kalo sekali pergi, asyik pergi je dalam seminggu tu. I had McD two days ago, take-away. My niece Miss A called yesterday, asking for a date, guess where, McD. So sweet of them to 'date' us.

We went to the outlet nearest to our place. Ordered double cheese for the ladies, and a filet-o-fish for the gentleman. I would like to go for Big Mac but I wasn't very hungry, so the filet was good enough.

Miss H drew us a drawing, depicting me, my wife, Ms. A and Ms. H herself, with happy faces. 'I'm very happy because we can have McD together!' she acclaimed. The one at the far right with moustache is me. Ms. H was so happy that she even smile with contentment when she say grace (prayer before meal).

Ms A is a grown up now. No more cartoon drawing or jumping around like monkey. She just eat, eat, eat and eat, then tease her younger sister abit and continue eat, eat, eat and eat. This McD meal is on her treat you know. Her angpow money she said.

Thanks Ms. A.

Vote

It's election day. I want to perform my duty as a citizen of Malaysia. I want to vote for those who can represent the rakyat. I want my future.

I reached the poll station around 11.45am. Not many people there, only one person in front of me. No queuing required. It took me less then 5 minutes to vote.

The poster stated no handphone. Saya ambik gambar jugak.

I had got sick and tired of the political party that filled with briberies, cronyism, discriminations, suppressions and empty promises. The 'exam questions' this morning was easy. Second thought was not required to answer them. I vote for changes.

There, I'd done my duty. Now looking forward to the changes.

Drive-Thru Fold-over

Ramai yg cuti hari ni, or balik kampung. Kononnyer nak ngundi kat kampung, kononnyer la. So hari ni takde teman gi makan tengahari. Teringin nak makan fold-over McD. Tapi sampai kat situ, penuh satu restaurant. Ntah naper, sampai je hari Jumaat kat McD ni mesti penuh ngan orang. I decided to drive-thru je lah.

Dah lama x makan beef fold-over. I ordered a large set. Lapar lah. The McD outlet that I went to was very efficient in taking order and delivery of the food. It took me a mere 3 minutes, dari beratur, buat order, bayar, sehingga lah diaorang paskan makanan tu kat saya. Efficient, right?

Masuk ofis, kunci bilik. Makan sorang-sorang. Sedapnyerrrr fold-over tu.

Besok nak gi mengundi. I had the candidate in mind. I want some changes.

Disappointing Breakfast

We decided to tryout a new venue for breakfast. Actually it's my decision. We had been to this kopitiam about one and a half years ago. We banned the kopitiam after a visit and another second chance visit. Reasons: lousy food, poor services, expensive. But they had renovated the place and gave the kopitiam a face-lift 6 months ago. We had our breakfast at Pak Li yesterday and saw quite a number of people patronizing the place, and that prompted me to give them a third chance. (Note: this kopitiam is situated opposite the Pak Li).

Puan senget ordered Nasi Kerabu Ayam. Tak habis makan pun, tak sedap ler tu. The colour of the nasi is exactly the same as the colour of Puan Tod-tod's blue Gen-2. Ok ke nasi kerabu tu Puan senget? 'Kureeennngggg' jawabnye.

I ordered half-boiled eggs and steamed bread, thinking that the taste would be as good as those at Pak Li. Puan Sue-sue ordered the same.

To our surprise, they put the two eggs into this mug, and expected us to retrieve the eggs after 5 minutes. "Ni telur separuh masak, lagi 5 minit keluarkan" Duhhh..??!!??

We retrieved them after 5 minutes. Overcooked. Oh ya, the steamed bread, elastic and chewy. The kaya tasted like plain sugar.

Puan Tod-tod ordered nasi lemak. The menu printed:
* Nasi lemak biasa RM2.50
/Ayam goreng RM3.00

* Nasi kerabu RM4.50

If you were the customer, what is the price stated for nasi lemak ayam goreng? RM3.00? Nope, you're wrong. It's RM5.50. The ayam cost her RM3.00, a very small piece of fried chicken. Duhhh????!!! On top of that, the cashier at the counter can't even remember the price of their food (they offer very few items only) and the billing took them soooooo long. We waited and waited and waited, at the counter.

Overall, none of us was happy with the breakfast. The verdict? BAN THIS KOPITIAM!! Just BAN this M*z* Kopitiam. They never learn from the mistakes. Expensive facelift without improvements on the food and the services just can't lure the crowd.

Wallpapers of Port Dickson

These are some of the photos that I'd taken during my recent visit to PD. It's taken from my hotel room. Feel free to download. Just click the pics to enlarge and save them to your computer.

Ada banyak lagi, tapi taknak tunjuk semua, nak save space for my blogging.

Unexpected Free Lunch

Time running short when we went for lunch this noon. Any restaurant that serves quick meal will be our choice. So Burung Kakak Tua suggested to tryout the restaurants in a new commercial area in Shah Alam. As we drove around searching for a 'reasonable looking' restaurant, this particular one caught our attention.

What caught our attention was not the decor, but the tagline of the restaurant. Kelatelicious! The ladies shouted in unison: 'Jom cuba yang ni!' Lupa, dalam keta ada 3 orang kelate.

Strangely, they served two dishes only. Either nasi kerabu, or nasi dagang. And they serve mango juice only. Setelah amik nasi ngan lauk ngan air bagai, nak gi bayar katakan. Aik? maner kaunter??
"Hari ni free cik, kita baru je buka business hari ni." Fuyoooo.... bestnyer..... Dua ekor burung ni seperti biasa, berkicauan sepanjang masa.

Ni nasi kerabu yang saya makan. Sedap. Tapi yg pelik, nasi kerabu takde kerabu.

Pinky, makan-makan kali ni ada tiga ekor kumbang termasuk Josh. Kira a rare occassion ler kan.

For your info, the owner said they will start business tomorrow, giving 50% discount! We'll be there for our lunch tomorrow. hehehe.

Research Group Meeting at Port Dickson

Me and my fellow research members, and our spouses spent the last weekend at Port Dickson. If I were given a choice, Port Dickson would not be in my list of interest as I prefer beaches in the east coast. However, the trip was memorable and the meeting was fruitful.

While we spent time indulging ourselves in research projects discussions, our spouse spent their time enjoying the facilities provided in the resort hotel. They got swimming pool, sauna, steam room, tennis court, food massage, spa, beach sports and many others.

Oh ya, they fed us with food, lots of food, 5 times a day. The barbecue dinner at the side of the lagoon was relaxing.

I went for the sauna and steam bath twice, hoping to shed off some extra fat derived from the overfeeding. The day of joining 'Kelab Bulat' is near.

Tropical Sakura

Yeeaaaayyyyy.... the tropical sakura right in front of my house is finally flowering. This is truly joyful as it has never flowers in such a manner.

Baru je hari tu masa Abg Bear & Hairie datang rumah Josh kata pokok ni tak pernah berbunga lebat. Abg Bear datang je ke rumah, terus dia berbunga seminggu selepas tu. Agaknyer abg bear bawak tuah kot.

I think Amazonman should invite Abg Bear to his house, as he'd bad luck ever since the Year of the Rat starts.
