I was at Ipoh for the pass three days. First time driving there alone, and first time staying overnight. Thanks to the navigator I had, I can roam the totally alien Ipoh town at ease. hehe.
After hearing a few recommendations, I stayed at the Syuen Hotel. They claimed to be four stars, but I was quite disappointed with the settings and the service of the hotel. (The four-stars Parkcity Everly Hotel in Bintulu beats this hotel hands down, really). The lights at the lobby was so dim that it gave me an eerie feeling once I stepped into the hotel.
They got plenty of lights actually, but most of them were not on. Here's another corner of the lobby.
The room that I stayed had no outside view. The window was facing the window of another room, just a mere 5 feet away. Hm... might be a good place for peeping toms. They got a small swimming pool, a gym and a steamroom, but was deserted. Only swimming pool was functional.
However, the hotel is situated just next to the Ipoh Parade, a small-medium sized mall.
I managed to 'ronda-ronda' the town at night. Nothing much actually, the town was quiet after 10.30pm. Below are the photos of the city hall and the railway station.
More coming up in my next entry. Makan-makan and jalan-jalan.
