Lok-lok is in Trend

I accompanied my wife and my mother-in-law to my mother-in-law's belated husband's second sister's youngest son's eldest son's birthday party (Any easier way to tell the relationship??) last saturday after the seminar at church.

The party was simple, yet something intrigues me. I saw this strange looking van parked in the front yard of the house. A person was busy doing some kind of preparation. Suddenly the van was lighted. People swarmed to the van in no time.

It was the lok-lok van, offering skewed food to be served after boiling them in boiling water for a couple of minutes. Some call these food 'satay celup'. (Betul ke cikgu-cikgu semua??)

KFC and McD used to be the choice of food in children's party. But the lok-lok seems to begin to take over the limelight slowly. I recalled a few gatherings and house warmings that i'd attended, and there were lok-lok served.

Hm... lok-lok is in trend. People are getting more health concious??

i guess it's bcos lok-lok is simple yet with varieties, you don't have to prepare the headcount, and most importantly no leftovers to worry, and i supposed they charge accordingly to how much the guests consumed..

[Ashabuls] lok lok tu satay celup. Bahan-bahan tu kena celup dalam air mendidih sebelum makan. Biasanye kat Melaka banyak. cubalah!

[{sk}] Hi Sk, nice knowing u and welcome to my blog. You're right. it's the convenience that people look for. My cousin ordered 500 sticks if I was not mistaken.

[Yaz] Bukan olok-olok. JOLOK-JOLOK lah! ish, cepuk kang.

[Wahaza] Whoaah... near IOI ah? hm... I didn't notice when we were at Old Town Coffee the other day.

[Chen] Lok-lok VERRRY healthy one. We eat kangkong only. hehehe

[Putu] Aiyoo.. orang tanya ada cara yang lebih singkat ke tak, dia pulak mintak panjangkan.. hahaha..
A'ah sebenarnye memang macam steamboat. Cuma yang lok-lok ni pakai air kosong yang didih je, steamboat pulak pakai soup yang sedap.

[Pinky] A'ah, van steamboat cucuk. Sama, bezanya steamboat pakai sup, lok-lok ni air kosong je.

[Yaz] Tau pun pengsan. Ingat tak tau. (KIH KIH KIH)

[Banana] Gosh, my tongue got twisted reading your comment.
Yaa, it's really nice. I like them hot (temperature).

[Cats] A'ah, memang macam steamboat. Yang ni pulak dicucuk macam satay. I like it.

[Beruang Madu] A'ah abg bear. Lok-lok asal dari bahasa hokkien, maksudnyer celur-celur. Kita cucukkan dengan lidi, pastu celur sekejap sebelum makan, cicah ngan kuah. sedaaaap.

Dah tukar balik ke blogspot?? pesal? Noted.

[Moshee] JANGAN MONYET... mau hilang seleraa.... hahahaha

Josh said...

Haha. Seriously, why is the family all so "connected"?

And I think I recognized that house.
